School and Institute of Musical Traditions present an evening with Mark H Rooney - taiko performer, teacher, artist - as he celebrates 25 years of taiko (exactly half his life). To mark this auspicious (and somewhat arbitrary) coincidence, Mark will demonstrate various original pieces and talk about both his personal taiko journey and artistic process. He will also answer any questions that the audience might have (on topic, please!) and discuss the reasons he doesn’t use the title “Sensei”, perspectives on teaching taiko and why he is “the world’s most dangerous half-Japanese, half-Scottish solo improvisational taiko artist”.
