Mike Scoglio

A graduate of the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music at The Catholic University of America and a D.C. native, Mike Tony Scoglio regularly performs with other musicians throughout the DC area, including Justin Trawick & The Common Good, and has a Wednesday night residency at The Irish Inn at Glen Echo, MD. Drawing from his eclectic experience, Mike enjoys engaging his audience with a wide repertoire of song selections and musical styles. From epic orchestral performances, big band jazz dances, and musical theater productions, to commanding a room at an intimate club or backing up local singer-songwriters, Mike elevates every musical experience. Mike has had the opportunity to play locally at venues such as the Kennedy Center, Jiffy Lube Live, the Birchmere, the 9:30 Club, and The Hamilton. Mike has also had the privilege of opening for music icons Del Mcourry Band, Dan Tyminski, Enter the Haggis, Jimi Jamison, Craig Morgan, Rodney Atkins, Chuck Mead, and Asleep at the Wheel.
While Mike’s primary instruments are upright bass, guitar and voice, he is also highly proficient on harmonica, ukulele, and piano. Lessons with Mike focus on music theory, ear training, and a practical approach to performance. He breaks each of these concepts down into smaller more approachable exercises with a focus on consistency and anxiety reduction. He can also teach you how to read and notate music using a variety of classical and shorthand methods in order to communicate your music to others. Depending on the student’s needs, Mike’s proficiency in popular music styles allows for a flexible approach that will benefit beginners and working professionals alike. By focusing on songs or genres that inspire the student, Mike works to develop life-long interest in pursuing the benefits of musical education.
