Youth Jam! Ages 6-12
Learning to play well with others is an essential part of music education, and its a ton of fun! Teacher and jam session maestro Mari Carlson helps kids take their music from the practice room to practical application. All instruments are welcome.
$30 Intro to Celtic Repertoire
Celtic cellist Ellen Gira leads a monthly repertoire class where you’ll learn a groovy Celtic tune and create a fun arrangement as an ensemble. This class will also offer ideas to take your playing further and improve your session playing.
$30 Bluegrass Repertoire Class with Justin Heath
1:00 - 2:30 PM EST This class will help students expand their repertoire while honing the skills required to play with others and be creative while doing it.
$30 per Session Music Time with Mr. Gabe!
This is a classic toddler music and movement class led by Takoma Park’s favorite children’s musician, Mr. Gabe. Ages 18 months to 3 years
$250 Jazz Repertoire Class with Noah Gitlis
Each month Noah Gitlis teaches a different Jazz Standard emphasizing the skills needed to play in jazz jam sessions. Learn the melody, harmony, accompaniment, and rhythm to your favorite jazz standards. All instruments are welcome.
$30 Old Time Repertoire Class
Multi-instrumentalist, teacher, and Old Time aficionado Jonathan Vocke teaches classic old-time fiddle tunes to help students deepen their knowledge of repertoire while raising their skills and confidence for the jam.
$30 Ukulele for All!
Leave with one new song under your belt and a whole lot of happiness! This class meets once a month.
$30 Jamming with Carol Anne Bosco
This class about listening, finding the pocket, managing space, improvising, and playing well together in open ended jamming situations.
$30 Vocal Technique with Dede Wyland
Learn to breathe like a singer, what breath support really is and feels like and how to free your voice from tension for improved tone quality (resonance), range and projection with master vocalist and teacher Dede Wyland.
$50 Songwriting with Gabby Cameron
This welcoming course is designed for the songwriting-curious. Explore how to craft your stories, ideas, and emotions into songs through lyrics, melody, and chord progressions.
$30 Bluegrass Fiddling with Bebe Blumenthal
Learn essential techniques and concepts of Bluegrass Fiddling with teacher Bebe Blumenthal.

Student Cancellation and Refund Policy
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to lessons@schoolofmusicaltraditions.com.
If you cancel your registration:
- 5 days or more before the workshop: full refund or full credit towards a future workshop or
individual lessons
- 4 days and up to 24 hours in advance of the workshop: 50% refund or 50% credit towards a future
workshop or individual lessons
- Less than 24 hours in advance: no refunds or credits will be processed
For multi-session classes, students register for all sessions. We do not prorate the registration fee if
you
have to miss one or more sessions. Please note that some multi-session classes have a per-session or
“drop-in” rate specified. We do not offer a retroactive change your registration if you switch between a
drop-in or full-class purchase.

School of Musical Traditions Cancellations
If the School of Musical Traditions cancels a workshop or class due to instructor emergency,
insufficient registration, inclement weather, or other situation that is out of our control, we will
attempt to reschedule the class.
If we do not reschedule the class, or if you are unable to attend the rescheduled date, we will
offer
registered participants the choice between a full refund, credit for individual lessons, or credit
for a
future workshop.
