Sight Reading for Folk Musicians with Mari Carlson
There are so many benefits to learning to read music!
  • Learn new music quickly.
  • Improve your understanding of what you are playing.
  • Develop a language to communicate your ideas with other musicians.
  • Easily write out parts that can be played by any other instrument.
  • Just flip pages and explore songs that you’ve never heard!
In this workshop, you’ll learn to decode the page, from time signature to key signature to finding the notes and rhythms on the instrument using a book provided, then apply our knowledge playing duets.

Open to violin/fiddle and mandolin. Ages 14+

A sight reading book is included in the price of the workshop.
