Uasuf Gueye
Explore the rich rhythms and melodies of West African music in this collaborative class and guided jam! Whether you're a seasoned musician or simply curious, you're invited to learn basic rhythms and melodies from the traditional Manding repertoire. Oral historian and cross-cultural music facilitator, Uasuf Gueye, will guide participants through fundamental techniques. Musicians are encouraged to bring their own instruments, from any genre or background, to create a unique fusion of sounds. West African percussion instruments will be provided for those without instruments who want to dive in. All levels of experience are welcome—come to learn, share, and jam together in a spirit of cultural exchange and creativity. No prior knowledge of West African music is required!
