Georgia Beatty plays fiddle for dance, is a cellist singer-songwriter, makes shadow puppet theatre, and more! She takes an embodied and researched approach to teaching and her artistic practice.

Her lessons focus on joyful learning and playing at every stage. Here is some of what she will teach:

Georgia’s focus as a fiddler is Norwegian traditional music. She studies with master fiddler Loretta Kelley in Takoma Park and plays regularly for the Mid-Atlantic Norwegian Dancers. She has taken two research trips to southern Norway funded in part by the National Folk Organization and was awarded the Maryland State Arts Council Folklife Apprentice Grant to study regional hardanger fiddle styles for dance with Loretta Kelley in 2025–26.

As a cellist and singer-songwriter, Georgia regularly performs and tours her own music. This includes her debut album of original and traditional fiddle tunes, Apprentice to Transformation, and her sophomore release The Book of Stars, which combines songwriting with an original folktale and the 1800s-style projector known as the magic lantern. She loves puppet theatre and playing the music that accompanies it.
