Luke Chohany
Having grown up outside of Harrisburg in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania, Luke currently lives in Baltimore. He plays with folk-rock band Whiskey Feathers and other regional folk and jazz groups. He has performed with April Verch, Brad and Ken Kolodner, The Bumper Jacksons, Hot Club of Baltimore, and Baltimore Swing Drop. Beyond Baltimore, Luke has toured the US and internationally with his adventurous folk music duo Nick and Luke. Luke prioritizes a low-stress and fun teaching style. With over a decade of teaching experience, he has developed a simple and practical method, helping his students identify personal blocks so they can learn more quickly and effortlessly. He helps his students learn how to play with good technique and pick up music by ear, emphasizing proper body posture and mechanics to reduce discomfort and maximize enjoyment.
Luke specializes in bluegrass, jazz, country, and old-time music, and is comfortable teaching in just about any style. He teaches guitar, mandolin, piano, upright bass, and ukulele.
Redford the lazy hound often attends lessons and loves to be lulled to sleep by the sounds of students learning. He is available for hellos and petting when requested.
